A day of standing up
Another thing I've been meaning to try for quite a while is standing up for a whole day. Never sitting down.
Standing up for the whole day broke me out of some of my daily habbits and I was much more productive as a whole during the day. It is a neat experiment and doesn't require much of a setup or preparation and may give you a different perspective.
Got up at 9 am. Had breakfast walked around and started working online. Put a cardboard box on the desk so that I could work on top of it. By 12 my legs are feeling tired and I need to move around a bit. Thought, maybe by standing it's easier for my body to give me signals to when I should move.
A friend and business partner came over and we talked about ideas we revised some information on a grant application and wrote down a tentative new title. Then we walked to the middle of my small town and had a drink and a sandwich for lunch.
The rest of the day I've worked on the computer and walked around the house and the yard outside (even if it was raining). I've noticed that I have walked a lot more today.
At the end of the day I can feel that my legs and feet are very tired. I feel the strain in the front of my thighs and my calf muscles and also a bit in the heels of my feet.
All in all it was an interesting experiment that I have enjoyed. Seeing things from a different perspective changes the way we perceive things and in turn changes the way we do things.
